Allen Iverson and Grizzlies Part Ways

ESPN just reported that Memphis will waive Iverson.

Here is GM Chris Wallace’s statement: “The Grizzlies and Allen Iverson have come to a mutual agreement that because of personal matters that forced him to leave the team on Nov. 7, Allen will step away from the game at this time, allowing him to focus on those matters,” said Wallace, “As a result, we will be ending our contractual agreement with Allen, which will allow both parties to move forward. We wish Allen the best.”

Owner Michael Heisley definitely owes Wallace an apology over this mockery. Was the money made off jerseys and tickets really worth the embarrassment? I can’t believe they severed ties with Iverson after only 3 games. I suggested they do it in my Iverson column but I prefaced it by saying there was no way it was going to happen.

Instead of chalking this move up as a mistake and taking the mulligan, it looks like the Grizz have set their sights on another old, troubled guard. This time, Jamaal Tinsley. Come up with your own punchline.
